I can’t believe we are on block 4 of our quilt along already! I have been really looking forward to sewing this fab block by Bobbi at Snowy Days Quilting. You can get the free pattern now from her blog.

Cutting accurately and sewing with an exact 1/4″ seam allowance will, as ever, help with your construction of Block 4. (To test your seam allowance, check out my tutorial.) Bobbi’s pattern is really comprehensive and packed full of helpful diagrams.

By far the most daunting part of making this block is all the cutting out. However once you have done this, the block sews together really easily. I love the way Bobbi has included the measurements at the end of each step so you can check that you’re on track.

Here are my trio of cotton reels, as you can see the construction is quick and easy! I enjoyed picking the fabrics for this block, depending on your fabric choices, you will get a very different look to your finished block.

What a clever block! I have too many QALs going on, so I’m not stitching along on this one, but I sure do enjoy seeing the blocks!
Bobbi’s design was fantastic and much quicker to sew than you would think! I’m glad you’re enjoying seeing all the new designs. Thanks for popping over.
I am doing this quilt along and find I really look forward to seeing your blocks, they are so well done. I especially like the way you have done this one. I am hoping to see a block with scissors but imagine that it would be a very hard one to do.
Thanks, Kathy, your kind comments mean a lot to me. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the quilt along. Scissors would be fun to make!
Love your fabric choices for this block – as usual – they are perfect.
Thanks, Kathleen, this was a fun block to sew. I’m looking forward to the final release of segment 1!
Such pretty spools of thread you have! Beautiful job.
Thanks, Becca, I think we all went for very different looks with this block and they all turned out great! I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of segment 1!
Hi Sandra,
Your thread spools look wonderful! I love your fabric choices for the QAL, such pretty and soothing colors.
Thanks, Abbie! I really enjoyed making this block now I just have to figure out what projects to make!
Me too!
I’m having fun working on a project for your Sewing Machine block right now 🙂
Can’t wait to see it!
Your thread spools are delightfully coordinated!
Thanks, Sandy, I enjoyed picking the fabrics!
