Quilt Along By The Sea

It has been a long, long time since I last sat down to blog. The pandemic has made my sewing (and blogging) time very scarce but I am super excited to finally share the details of our new ‘Partners in Design‘ project ‘Quilt Along By The Sea’ with you!

This nautical themed qal will begin on the 4th August 2020. There will be twelve brand new FREE 12″ blocks released EXCLUSIVELY throughout this quilt along.

Tell Me More . . .

The qal is arranged into three different segments with four blocks released in each segment. One block will be released every week on a Tuesday at 8 am, Eastern time, beginning on the 4th August 2020. Once all four blocks of that segment have been released there will be a one week break and then the next segment will begin.

Patterns will be free to the end of the Quilt along, after that individual designers may charge so do make sure you download your patterns during the qal, even if you’re running a bit behind!

Designers

The patterns will be designed for you exclusively by members of our ‘Partners in Design’ team. The designers for ‘Quilt Along By The Sea’ are;

With so many different designers, there will be a whole range of techniques used in the blocks from paper piecing to traditional piecing to applique. But if you’re a beginner, don’t worry! Help will always be at hand from the designers themselves and the other members of the Facebook Group.

Prizes

There will be prize draws at the end of every segment for those who have completed all four blocks, and a grand prize draw at the conclusion of ‘Quilt Along By The Sea’.

For the grand prize, all blocks need to be completed but they do no need to be used in a project. There are three ways to enter the prize draws. Upload your completed blocks to Facebook, tag them on Instagram (#QALbytheSea) or upload your blocks to the linky party on the block designer’s website.

This year we have an international and a US only prize. The reason we have separate ones is that many of our sponsors will not ship outside the US and we don’t want to exclude our international participants from the giveaways. The international prize will include e-patterns, e-magazine subscriptions, etc.

The two grand prize winners will be announced on 1st December 2020.

How to Join Us

We’d love to have you quilt along with us!

Join our Facebook group and tag your quilty friends. Through the group, you will get access to the patterns as they are released and you will be able to see all the different interpretations of the blocks. There is always someone around to help or advise and it’s fun to see everyone’s blocks.
