Cardinal Quilt Block

SIZE: 12″ square (excluding seam allowances)

TECHNIQUE: machine piecing using squares and rectangles. The pattern contains instructions for cutting out the pieces using a rotary cutter and quilting ruler and does not contain actual size templates. This pattern contains some small pieces, the smallest of which is 1.25″ square. As with all patchwork, for best results, cut and piece accurately.

SKILL LEVEL: A little more involved but worth the effort! This block is suitable for those who can cut and piece accurately and are confident at following a pattern.

On ordering, you will receive a ten page cardinal quilt block pattern. Pattern includes a cutting guide, step-by-step instructions, illustrated where necessary, two large, coloured construction diagrams and a fabric guide.  The pattern includes details on how to make both a left and right facing cardinal.

Description

The pattern contains instructions to make both a left and right facing cardinal bird. This makes the pattern much more versatile. You could make multiple quilt blocks for a full-size cardinal quilt or a three block Christmas table runner.

The cardinal quilt block is constructed with basic machine piecing patchwork techniques like half square triangles.

The ten page Cardinal pattern comes with detailed step-by-step instructions, illustrated where necessary. Large, coloured diagrams are provided for reference for both the left and right facing cardinal birds.

On receipt of payment, you will receive a link to download your pattern. Please don’t try to download the pattern to your phone, very few phones have enough memory!  Once you have downloaded your pattern you can print it out and get started sewing straightaway.
