Dove Mini Quilt Pattern
(Please note this Dove Mini Quilt pattern is only available for free for the duration of the Blog Hop)
Making the Quilt Front
So let’s begin! Start by joining the inner borders onto the central panel. Your dove is just taking flight so it’s wing tip will be fused outside the central panel.

Add the outer borders, following the pattern directions to make a log cabin block.

Adding the Applique
Print off your template from the end of this pattern. Check it has printed at the correct size by measuring the 1″ box. If it’s accurate then trace the dove onto fusible web, fuse onto your fabric and cut out the pieces carefully. If the 1″ box is not measuring correctly, adjust your printer settings.

Use the photos to position your dove as shown, it is just taking flight! Stitch around the dove using your preferred stitch. I used blanket stitch in a charcoal thread to make the dove really stand out.

Finishing Off Your Quilt
Using your normal method, create a quilt sandwich and quilt your mini quilt. I used a removable fabric pen to draw around a bowl to outline the central panel. With a ruler, I joined the curves up at each corner. I then straight stitched lines from the top right corner of the quilt. You can see the quilting much better on the reverse of the mini quilt!

Finally I bound the quilt and added a hanging sleeve.
Finishing at just over 18″, this Dove Mini Quilt pattern is perfect for adapting as a pillow cover. Add a simple envelope back closure before you bind and you’re good to go!
