I designed this bag as I needed a tote bag large enough to carry a picnic for the whole family – ideally with a few sun hats, some sun cream and a couple of rain coats (IRISH WEATHER!!) thrown in.
This bag has come with us everywhere this summer. It saw the great fin of basking shark from a beach in Achill Island. It’s got lost in Dublin’s Phoenix Park. It’s off for a weekend in Blackpool in a couple of weeks and is squeezing in a trip to Sligo before then.

The main fabrics are from Bonnie and Camille‘s gorgeous April Showers fabric collection. The front pocket is embellished with quick machine appliqué and inside there’s a bound internal pocket large enough to hold phone, keys, etc.

To fasten the bag, I used a concealed magnetic bag closure. They were a REVELATION to me, they’re so quick to stitch on! Sara Lawson has written a great Craftsy’s tutorial on attaching these clasps.
